Spring / Summer Color Changes –
It is time to change out the color in beds and pots. Many Spring flowers are in bloom and ready to be planted. Impatiens, Geraniums, and Hydrangeas are perfect for our North Texas Spring Weather. Summer is right around the corner and with it will come Pentas, Mandevillas, Begonias, and Hibiscus, along with many other beautiful blooms. This is the perfect time of year to consult with our Seasonal Color Coordinators at TGS. With the expert advice you will receive from your Seasonal Color Coordinator you can design a beautiful Spring and Summer garden. To schedule a consultation please contact Michael at 214-679-2940, or Emily at 972-670-8732.

In the coming weeks, Ironite will be applied to shrubs and trees to help keep them healthy and to keep them from iron chlorosis (iron deficiency). Chlorosis is easily detectable on Azaleas and Gardenias by a yellow faded leaf surface with green veins. Ironite also contains many trace minerals and nutrients that our soils need to maintain healthy dark green plants.
And slow release fertilizer will be applied to beds for shrubs and ornamental trees. A variation of this fertilizer will also be applied to beds when Spring and Summer color is installed. This will maximize the blooms from your Seasonal Color and also help to extend the life cycle of the plant.
This is the perfect time of year to fertilize your trees through Root Injection. A species appropriate fertilizer can be injected directly into the roots of your trees, rather than applied topically. This can be of great benefit to trees that may be struggling now, or that have struggled in previous seasons.

Properties that were over seeded with Rye grass in the fall are looking spectacular right now and will continue to look great throughout the month of April. Rye grass is a beautiful addition to your winter landscape, however it cannot tolerate our Texas summers. As the Rye grass begins to die, and it is cut back, you will see your Summer Turf begin to emerge and green up. TGS will be fertilizing your turf to aid in this process.
Properties that were not over seeded will begin to see their Summer Turf green up a little quicker. However, rainfall and temperature can greatly affect the speed at which this will happen.
Fertilizer and Weed Preventative will be applied to turf. However, with our unpredictable Spring temperatures in Texas, some properties may need more than one treatment. Warmer temperatures are needed to activate these chemicals, so we will monitor the turf carefully and take action where needed.
This is also the time of year where disease and insects can begin to be an issue. TGS will inspect your turf regularly for signs of infection. However, if you notice that your turf is stressed, please contact your account manager so that we can immediately assess the problem. Often times insects and disease cannot be treated until they are present, but catching them early will help to limit the area that could be infected.
